The party emerged onto what seemed a fairly peaceful area, wooded and fairly bright, with the sun just cresting the tops of some slightly ominous looking trees directly in front of them. Apparently it had taken both parties the better part of the night to reach the field; morning was breaking. When he turned his head to get a better view of where they had come from, Kryth saw that the tunnel, which had apparently disappeared after the last of the group had exited the passage, was at the very bottom of a massive wall, which towered a good six or seven hundred feet above where they now were walking. Kryth knew from experience that the wall was also incredibly thick, and housed the incredibly large city just behind it's premises. The wall had two reasons, according to the New Day company.
The first, and perhaps most obvious, being that the company wanted to keep unwanted things out of the city. The second more subtle reason was to stop the expansion of the city, causing it to extend upwards rather than outwards. As for entrances, there was only one real entrance, which was the Great Gates, a huge pair of metal doors that the Gate keeper would keep track of. The only legitimate entrance into the city.
As it stood, the wall was also open on it's western end, but this was simply because of the ports there. As far as Kryth was aware not even the New Day company used the Ports; they seemed rather old and out of use any time that Kryth had managed to make his way to that part of the city.
After this brief bit of contemplation, Kryth turned back to the task at hand. They were walking up a short slope, and when they crested it, they found themselves at the entrance to a fairly large camp. The camp itself was composed of a great number of ramshackle tents, from huge to small, brilliant to shabby. However, one thing was the same all around. All of the tents were either crudely painted or draped with cloth bearing the symbol of the Broken King, a number of golden shapes on a purple background.
Seeing this shocked Kryth to his core, enough to cause him to look directly at Deys, something he had really been trying to avoid for most of this time, and say "You brought him here? So close to the city? Are you people really that crazy?" This really did bewilder him slightly, this turn of events. He had honestly expected to meet in some secluded reigon of the forest, maybe even at the Keep itself, but certainly not here, so brazenly within the Gate Keeper's grasp. The city might be huge in terms of size, but no matter what part of the wall they were near, Kryth felt it was at the very least a stupid decision on someone's part.
Deyis glanced at him, turned slightly red due and then returned her gaze forward, saying "Beleive me, everything here is under control. The company has no idea where we are. We never stay in one spot for long, and we're only here right now in order for this meeting to occur as quickly as possible." at this point Kryth saw her grimace slightly. "Beleive me, it wasn't my choice."
As the group walked further into the makeshift camp they began to hear a great commotion, as though a large group of people was gathered together somewhere ahead. As it stood, the camp itself was largely deserted; none of the tents appeared to be occupied at all. After a minute or two of walking the group came to the edge of a large bowl shaped an ampitheater, and it suddenly became clear as to why the camp had been deserted. Though in something of a poor condition, with the few visable benches being in incredibly poor condition, the theater was almost litterally packed to the breaking point. The deziens of the camp were easily recognizable, each sporting purple of some color, and some wearing the symbol tha had been on the tents.
However, perhaps in even greater numbers, there were also people in armor, apparently armed to the teeth, and in all shapes and sizes as well. "What in the world is going on here?" asked Kryth in bewilderment, and more to himself than to anyone else. None the less, Deyis was more than willing to answer. "Sit down and shut up. " she said, indicating a bench right next to the entrance they had just come in"You'll get your answer soon enough. " And with that she turned and decended towards the large stone stage, which was home to two things; a row of approximately 6 chairs and a large purple curtain which was emblazoned with the golden symbol and looked to hide about half the stage. Confused, but intrigued, Kryth sat down on the stone bench that Deyis had indicated and settled in for a wait.
((For those of you wondering, I guess everyone else can either post reactions to this, and then I'll exposition, or i can just exposition now. Either way. Also; Whew.))
